Katie Corum has a passion and strong desire to help others – particularly professionals who run businesses. HR is an integral part of all organizations and she has developed a proficiency in the field that can significantly benefit small business owners, startups, nonprofits, and HOA Presidents as well.
Katie has worked in several industries here in South Florida, such as Healthcare, Telecommunications, PEO (Outsourcing), Media, Waste Management, Academia, Cultural Arts, and Architectural Design. A key part of the Human Resources work she has done that has become really meaningful to her is the ability to see training and processes come full circle.
Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management from Briar Cliff University and her MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
Career achievements
♦ Katie has been a member of HR Palm Beach County SHRM since 2005. She volunteered for 10 years in various roles from Hospitality, to SHRM Foundation/Community Relations, President Elect, President (2016) and Past President.
♦ During her Presidency for HR Palm Beach County SHRM Katie and her HR PBC SHRM Team were recognized in the HR Florida Review Magazine in 2016 ‘Chapters receive 2016 HR Florida Chapter of Excellence Award’ (Nov. 2016)
♦ She was recognized in the ‘HR Power Leaders in 2016’- South Florida Business Journal (October 2016)
♦ During Katie’s Presidency for the HR PBC SHRM Chapter, her Team were awarded 3 state/national awards for HRPBC which were: SHRM Silver Excel Award, SHRM Chapter Champion Award, and Chapter of Excellence Award
♦ As President Elect/Conference Chair-Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County (2015)-Organized, marketed and hosted 1 of the largest HRPBC Conferences to date with $64,000 revenue.
♦ Katie was nominated as HR Volunteer and HR Professional of the Year- HRPBC (Oct. 2014)
